Recipe to make Gujjiya desserts:)

Recipe to Indian desserts: Gujjiyas:)\Golden Sweet Indian fried Dumplings:)



For the Tortillas:

  1. 2 Cups of All purpose flour\Maida (lump free)
  2. 1/4-1/2 Cup of Water
  3. 2 Tbsp of Luke warm Ghee\Clarified butter

For the Stuffing:

  1. 1 Cup fresh Khoya\Khoya powder
  2. 2 Tbsp of dry grated Coconut
  3. 1 tsp of Ghee
  4. 1/2 Cup of Sugar
  5. 10-15 finely chopped Cashews\Kaju
  6. 10-15 finely chopped Almonds\Badam

Note: You can also add any other dry fruits as  desired:) Try avoiding Raisins as they can make the mixture sticky.


For making Stuffing:

1. Make sure to mash\grate the fresh Khoya

2. Heat Ghee in a  wok on low flame

3. Slowly add the khoya into the wok and stir

4. Make sure to keep stirring the khoya, to avoid it from burning and let it cook until soft

5. Now take the the khoya mixture off the flame and set it aside

6. When the khoya mixture is still luke warm; add sugar, coconut, and chopped dry fruits and mix it gently

7. Now stuffing mixture is ready:)

For making Tortillas:

1. Take the all purpose flour in a  bowl, add ghee to it and give it a good mix

2. Now slowly add water, to knead a good firm dough

3. Now make small dough balls and roll them to small thin tortillas (not too thin)

For the Gujjiyas:

1. In the tortillas, start filling the khoya stuffing

2. And Fold them as shown in the picture below

3. Make sure to close the ends using wet fingertips

4. Now heat oil in a wok for frying (vary the oil quantity as per size of the wok)

5. Slowly slide in the Stuffed Gujjiyas and fry until they turn golden brown

  Your yummy Gujjiyas are ready to be savored!!:)
